- Crediton Renewable Heat & Energy Open House Weekend 16/17 May
- Description
- Have you ever wanted to find out about solar panels for hot water and electricity generation, wind turbines and other renewable forms of energy? Are you fed up with high oil and electricity prices and want to change to renewables but don't know anything about it? Well now’s your chance as we have now finalised our plans for the renewable heat and energy open weekend on the 16th and 17th May. There will be ten homes participating in and around Crediton. Charles Mossman, one of the event organisers said "There is a wide range of equipment and energy efficiency measures on display. Please come along and see the installations and feel free to ask anything you like about costs, effectiveness, their benefits and limitations. The event is free of charge." Within a mile of Sandford there will be two homes exhibiting solar hot water and solar electricity generation as well as a wood pellet stove which replaces a traditional gas or oil central heating boiler, solid wall insulation, triple glazing and an organic garden. On display at two locations in or close to Cadeleigh are solar hot water and solar electricity generation systems, a large wind turbine and a home heating system which uses the heat stored in the ground. At Morchard Bishop, there will be a central and water heating system which takes its heat from the air all year round, and at the nearby Beech Hill Community a large log burning boiler, a wind turbine, solar hot water, composting loo, reed bed sewage and a community composting scheme will be on view. At Riverside, Woolfardisworthy there will be 3 tours each day of the small holding, wind turbine and solar hot water system. Near to Newton St Cyres at Sherwood House a large wood chip burning boiler will be on view. In Crediton itself there is a cottage with solid wall insulation and a home with a solar hot water system and a traditional log burner. Bea Hearne who is displaying her wind turbine and ground source heat pump systems at Caswell House near Cadeleigh said "we would have loved to have this opportunity when we were choosing our systems ". A leaflet giving full details of what's on show, when and where can be downloaded from our website at this short cut http://tinyurl.com/cca-openday . A paper leaflet will also be available from the Library and The Green House in Crediton.
